Do you need the pro11.msi file? I don’t think so …
I still dropped some lines about daily problems that waste too many time, although they are simple problems, or about error messages that doesn’t clearly shows a solution for our computer’s problems.
And this happened to me again. A user told me that the Excel wasn’t starting anymore and was asking to install something. After a quick analisys, when the user started MS Excel 2003 it was asking for installation CD in order to copy the pro11.msi file. But I hadn’t the installation CD nearby.
I tried Windows search, looking for the file. Nothing. Tried System Restore. Nothing. Downloaded a version I found at 4shared, but all I got was an installer in some arabian dialect, those ones written from right to left. Beautiful, but didn’t work.
Then our friend bring me the MS 329117 article, and there was the solution: create (or replace) an empty folder named XLStart into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 and its done! Now Excel works like a charm …
